Tusco Receives Letter of Commendation from Governor in Celebration of 50th Anniversary

Tusco marked a major milestone this year, celebrating its 50th anniversary. In recognition of this remarkable achievement, Governor Kay Ivey honored the company with a special commendation, highlighting its contributions to the construction industry and the state of Alabama.

The commendation ceremony took place at the State Capitol, where Tusco’s current shareholders—Brent Martina, Philip Emerson, and Jonathan Nichols—proudly represented the company. They were joined by former shareholders Kelly Beason, Kelley Riley, Rebecca Riley and Ron Miles, whose leadership played a pivotal role in Tusco’s journey to success.

Over the past five decades, Tusco has built a reputation for excellence in the perimeter security construction industry, known for its commitment to high quality products, installations, inspections and exceptional customer service. Under the leadership of both past and present shareholders, the company has expanded its reach and continued to innovate, earning respect a nationwide leader in designing, building and maintaining 360-degree security solutions.

Governor Ivey praised Tusco for its dedication to the state, saying, “Tusco is a vital contributor to protection of property and life to commercial and government entities in more than 40 states and five countries completing thousands of projects contributing to a more reliable and secure world.”

The ceremony highlighted Tusco’s core values and long-standing dedication to safety standards and to fostering strong relationships with employees, partners, and the communities it serves. As the company looks to the future, its leadership remains committed to continuing its legacy of innovation and excellence, driven by the same values that have carried it through the last half-century.

Whereas, The State of Alabama pays tribute to Tusco Inc. an Alabama company, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in 2024; and
Whereas, The great story of Tuscaloosa Fence Company, Inc. began in 1974 in Tuscaloosa, where the company was founded by R. Scott Riley, Rebecca W. Riley, and John E. Moeller Jr. (later shareholders including Ron W. Miles, Kelley D. Riley, and Kelly R. Beason) and built into Tusco, Inc.,  a nationwide leader in designing, building and maintaining 360 degree perimeter security solutions by shareholders Brent A. Martina,  Philip N. Emerson, and Jonathan J. Nichols; and
Whereas, Tusco employs more than 100 dedicated, responsible team members invested in Tusco’s “PEAR” mentality who are committed to providing total customer satisfaction through high quality products, installations, inspections and exceptional customer service; and
Whereas, Tusco faithfully upholds the belief that veterans constitute the cornerstone of the nation. Tusco remains steadfast in enabling veterans to continue safeguarding their clientele; and
Whereas, Tusco’s “PEAR” Core Values of Performance, Experience, Attitude, and Relationships form the foundation of their business, contributing to its positive culture, high-quality services, and overall success; and
Whereas, adopting safety standards and total human health initiatives are integrated into every aspect of Tusco’s business; through regular safety meetings, as well as ongoing education, and ensuring employees are held to the highest standards of safety and risk awareness while delivering a quality product; and
Where as, Tusco is a vital contributor to protection of property and life to commercial and government entities in more than 40 states and five countries completing thousands of projects contributing to a more reliable and secure world; and
Whereas, Tusco contributes to the state’s continuous economic growth through generating valuable tax revenue, offering competitive employee salaries and benefits, and delivering quality services to its customers,
Now Therefore, I Kay Ivy, Governor of Alabama, do hereby commend Tusco, Inc. on its 50th anniversary and I wish it many years of continued success.
